Types of Awnings

Awnings comes usually in two basic types including the manually operated models that are opened by hand and motorized models which are operated with the help of electricity. Each type has its own unique features and advantages.

Propulsion

Benefits of using the manually operated models include low-cost affordability, easy adaptability to almost any deck or patio and support arms. Support arms can be easily set vertically on the patio floor or angled back against the house. These arms offer extra support and stability that is very beneficial in windy areas and increase the versatility of awning by making the attachment.

Motorized awnings do not possess any vertical supports however they have retracting lateral arms that creates an unobstructed shaded area. These awnings are operated by an electric motor situated inside the roller bar of the awning. It is attached to the remote or switch and thus can be easily operated. Motorized awnings are offers convenience with classic simplicity and beauty.

Modern awnings are constructed with lots of innovative designs and styles. They usually covers various types of fabrics, aluminum, corrugated fiberglass, corrugated polycarbonate, etc.

Wind Tolerance and Construction

Ratings for the modern awnings are given for their wind tolerance level. This is based on width, length, number of supporting arms, and material used for the construction.
